On the morning of April 5th, 2023, Tsinghua University’s He Shanheng Building hosted the appointment ceremony for Mr. Wong Wai Ming, Executive Director of Hong Kong Paul Y. Engineering Co., Ltd., as a visiting professor. The ceremony was chaired by Professor Fang Dongping, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering. Attendees included Mr. Wong Wai Ming's wife, Mrs. Wong Tsang Miu King, Professor Li Xiaodong, Chair of the Department of Construction Management, Associate Professor Guo Hongling, Deputy Chair of the Department of Construction Management, and Associate Professors Deng Xiaomei and Chen Jiayu.
Professor Fang Dongping, provided an overview of Mr. Wong Wai Ming's distinguished career, highlighting his executive roles in major construction companies and the MTR Corporation Limited. With over 40 years of experience in large-scale engineering projects across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and internationally, Mr Wong has expertise in civil engineering architecture, foundation, and mechanical and electrical engineering. Professor Fang Dongping acknowledged Mr. Wong’s exceptional achievements and practical insights, emphasizing his potential to contribute valuable knowledge to the faculty and students of both the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction Management.
Subsequently, Mr. Wong Wai Ming participated in substantive discussions with faculty members on topics such as talent development in civil engineering, industry trends, and the integration of new technologies such as IOT and AI in civil engineering. Leveraging his extensive practical experience, Mr. Wong offered valuable insights into the future direction of the civil engineering industry and engaged in dynamic exchanges with the faculty.
