Guillermo Lasso delivered a speech entitled “Ecuador and China: The Success of Presidential Diplomacy”. He said that China's development achievements in the process of comprehensively deepening reform have attracted world attention, bringing more opportunities for quality cooperation for developing countries and putting forward profound programs for global governance. Tsinghua University is one of the world's top universities with outstanding academic achievements and rigorous scientific spirit, and has trained many outstanding talents for China and the world. During his visit to Tsinghua University, he hoped to have in-depth exchanges with students, teachers and researchers, and to provide opportunities for deeper engagement and cooperation between the two countries, so as to jointly promote the development of relations between the two countries. Guillermo Lasso shared Ecuador's pragmatic initiatives in economic and social development, foreign relations, and environmental protection with his new book 900 Days: Democracy and Results, and reviewed the history of China-Ecuador relations, expressing his wishes and outlook on the upcoming 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ecuador diplomatic relations.

More than a hundred students from various departments of the university listened to the speech. During the exchange session, Chinese and international students asked Guillermo Lasso questions about China- Ecuador relations, the role of youth in global governance and international cooperation, and other issues. Guillermo Russo answered the questions with his own experience, insights and thoughts.
