From September 24-26, the School of Civil Engineering organized a team of 10 advanced technologies (products) to participate in the 3rd Asia International Water Week, which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources of China and the Asia Water Council. More than 20 teachers and students, including LIU Xiaoli, Vice President of the School, XU Mengzhen , Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, LONG Di, Assistant to the President of the School, went to the Beijing International Convention Center to participate in the on-site promotion and demonstration. Prof. ZHAO Jianshi, Prof. WANG Zhongjing and Prof. WANG Zhaoyin participated in the academic exchange session.
Asia International Water Week (AIWW) was initiated by the Asia Water Council (AWC) since 2017, and as the most influential water-related multi-stakeholder conference in Asia, it has been occupying a place in the international arena for three years. This year's AIWW exhibition showcases China's and Asia's water science and technology innovations under the theme of “Promoting Future Water Security”. Nearly 1,300 representatives from government departments, research institutions, universities, water-related enterprises and international organizations attended the conference, including about 600 foreign representatives. Ministerial officials from nine Asian countries attended the event and shared their water policies and practices.
Through the well-designed exhibition area, on-site technical demonstrations, promotional videos, brochures and other forms of publicity, the School of Civil Engineering has demonstrated in an all-round and multi-angle way in the “Water Strategy and Water Policy Innovation”, “Digital Twin Empowering Intelligent Water Conservancy”, “Climate Change and Water-related Disasters”, “Security of Water, Food and Energy”, “Water and Watershed Ecosystems” and “Knowledge Integration and Dissemination”. This attracted many Chinese and foreign participants to conduct on-site seminars, which were widely recognized and praised by the participating experts and scholars, technicians, media and so on. A number of leaders from the Ministry of Water Resources came to the display area for on-site guidance, and highly praised the scientific and technological innovation achievements of Tsinghua team.
The School of Civil Engineering organized the team to participate in the exhibition organized by the Ministry of Water Resources again after participating in the achievements promotion meeting hosted by the Ministry of Water Resources last year. The relevant exhibition activities not only provided a platform to show scientific and technological innovation achievements to the international community, but also further demonstrated the important role and contribution of the School of Civil Engineering in contributing more wisdom to the water management in the Asian region, and jointly promoting the prosperous development of China's and even the world's water conservancy industry.
