On December 14, the Sixth Academic Conference for Young Scholars on Hydraulic Structures was held in Beijing. More than 300 delegates from more than 50 organizations attended the conference and discussed the latest research results and developments in the field of hydraulic structures.
In the morning, Prof. ZHAO Jianshi, Vice Dean of School of Civil Engineering, and Prof. ZHOU Wei of School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Wuhan University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Prof. ZOU Degao from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of Dalian University of Technology, Prof. JIN Zuquan from the School of Civil Engineering of Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Prof. JIANG Jinyang from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Southeast University, Prof. LU Jun from the Institute of Materials and Structures of Nanjing Research Institute of Water Resources, and Associate Prof. PAN Jianwen from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of Tsinghua University attended the opening ceremony and made the keynote report of the conference.
ZHAO Jianshi introduced the construction of the School of Civil Engineering of Tsinghua University at the opening ceremony, and elaborated on the development history and academic achievements of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering in the field of hydraulic structural engineering. ZHOU Wei delivered an enthusiastic speech at the opening ceremony, encouraging the young scholars to actively engage in the research of hydraulic structures. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. WANG Jinting of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Tsinghua University. In the keynote report session, ZHOU Wei gave an academic report on “Key technology and application of deformation prediction of high earth-rock dams based on big data and deep learning”, ZOU Degao gave an academic report on “Discussion on the dynamic interaction between earth-rock dams and infinite foundations”, JIN Zuquan gave a lecture on “Corrosion Resistance Improvement Measures of Marine Structures”, JIANG Jinyang gave a lecture on “Intelligent Design Principles and Multi-dimensional Performance Enhancement Methods of Hydraulic Concrete under Severe Service Conditions”, LU Jun gave an academic report on “Damage Acoustic Emission Response Mechanism and Performance Evaluation of Concrete under Salt Freezing and Thawing”, and PAN Jianwen gave an academic report on “Deep Learning Reconstruction of Spatio-Temporal Deformation Field and Intelligent Recognition of Cracking during the Operation Period of High Arch Dams”. The keynote report of the conference was hosted by Prof. LIU Donghai and Prof. LI Mingchao from Tianjin University, Prof. ZHAO Lanhao from Hohai University, and Prof. FU Zhongzhi from Nanjing Institute of Water Resources.
In the afternoon, the academic conference set up four sessions, respectively around the dam material properties and performance optimization, structural monitoring and intelligent analysis, computational methods and theoretical models, dam damage and safety protection, a total of more than 70 academic reports.
Organized by the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of Tsinghua University, the conderence aims to build an all-round academic exchange platform for young scholars of hydraulic structures, and to further promote the scientific research and strategic development in the field of hydraulic structures in China.
